Some families exchange gifts. This one exchanges accusations.

Christmas begins with the best of intentions: a lovely gathering, a sensible present budget, an orderly tree, and a general agreement that nobody will argue. By the time the wrapping paper comes out, those ambitions are already in trouble.

The family group chat has appointed itself management. The neighbours have hired a snow machine. A Secret Santa mix-up delivers a very unexpected windfall. Someone has brought a dog without mentioning it. There is a shepherd costume that apparently requires three adults, a Christmas card with an unfortunate announcement, and a seating plan interpreted as a declaration of war.

At the centre is a family desperately trying to get through the holidays while every tradition turns into a fresh negotiation. Who used the good wrapping paper? Why is the turkey still frozen? Who thought that game was a good idea? And why does making Christmas special seem to involve so much shouting?

Across twenty sharply observed comic episodes, Emrick Donvell finds the humour in small domestic disasters, well-meant interference, expensive expectations, and people who insist they are perfectly calm while raising their voices.

Why Is Everyone Yelling About the Wrapping Paper? is funny Christmas fiction for anyone who loves dry wit, dysfunctional family comedy, and the kind of festive chaos that becomes hilarious only after everyone has gone home. It's a holiday gift book for grown-ups, reluctant hosts, exhausted organisers, and readers who know that surviving Christmas often provides the best stories.

Because sometimes the most memorable Christmas moments are the ones nobody planned.
