People can and do recover from alcoholism and drug addiction. A combination of research and interviews were used to compile Still Standing: Inspiration from People with Long-Term Abstinence from Alcohol and Drugs. These stories of individuals with over 20 and 30 years of sobriety identify factors that lead to long-term abstinence. The stories tell what it was like for individuals prior to their recovery and what they felt contributed to their achievement of long-term sobriety.
