This collection gathers several short stories by Champfleury, a prominent figure in the Realist movement of 19th-century French literature. Included are "Madame Eugenio," "Histoire Du Lieutenant Valentin," "Le Marronier," "Les Bras De La Vénus De Milo," "Les Deux Amis," and "La Sonnette De M. Berloquin." These stories offer a glimpse into the social mores and everyday lives of the period, rendered with Champfleury's characteristic attention to detail and realistic portrayal of human nature. Though less known than some of his contemporaries, Champfleury's contribution to French letters remains significant, and this collection provides valuable insight into his narrative skill and the broader literary landscape of his time.
